Teen chops off father's hand and arm in revenge

MIAOLI, Taiwan -- Miaoli County Police yesterday arrested a teenage boy who allegedly chopped off his father's hand and arm for recently beating and reprimanding him, local media reported.

The boy, 17, surnamed Fan, with the help of another friend, knocked his father unconscious with a blow to the head, and then severed his father's left hand at the wrist as well as the right arm at the elbow using a watermelon knife, officers were cited as saying.

According to officers, Fan wanted to get even with his father, who Fan had recently gotten into a fight with. The boy, disgruntled by his father's strict discipline at home and history of abusing Fan's mother, had been living with his father since his parents' divorce, said a Central News Agency (CAN) report.
