Kaohsiung to host Asia-Pacific student seminar

KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan -- More than 300 students from 25 countries will gather in Kaohsiung between March 21-27 for an annual leadership development conference for the Asia-Pacific region, organizers said yesterday.

The Asia Pacific Exchange and Leadership Development Seminar is being held by the world's largest student-run organization, AIESEC, to provide a platform for students to share their thoughts and sharpen their competitiveness, according to Yao Hui-ju, a journalism student at the Taipei-based Chinese Culture University.

This year's event will focus on the theme “leadership in action,” according to the organizers.

In addition to AIESEC members from 15 Asia-Pacific countries, participants in the conference will also include students from Croatia, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany and the United States, Yao said.

Lin Wan ching, a finance student at National Taiwan University, said the issues to be discussed in the conference will include entrepreneurship.
