Kaohsiung taxi driver found dead in cab

KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan -- A Kaohsiung taxi driver was found dead in his cab yesterday morning.

Police are gathering information for the cause of the death, according to local media.

The 44-year old driver, surnamed Lee, was found covered in blood and to be not breathing in his unlocked cab. There were two injuries caused by sharp tools behind Lee's left ear, said police.

The police said that the cab was parked in a parking lot in front of E-Da hospital in Kaohsiung County. Other taxi drivers had discovered Lee and called police to the scene around 9 a.m. yesterday.

According to Lee's wife, she had not seen Lee since Sunday noon.

Police and prosecutors are still determining the cause of Lee's death as of yesterday.
