Three men nabbed for stealing cars in Kaohsiung

KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan -- Three young men were arrested for stealing cars last Friday in Kaohsiung City.

The suspects from Kaohsiung City, Hsu Chih-ling, 21, Tseng Shih-pin, 19, and Lin Ting-hsiao, 19, had stolen more than 20 cars of particular brands in the last three months. They removed valuable equipment from the cars and sold them, police said.

Later, they drove the stolen vehicles to race them in the downtown district and rammed them into other vehicles intentionally. After crashing the vehicles, they would get rid of them by abandoning them at the side of roads.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) cooperated with the Kaohsiung police last month and found their whereabouts but failed to catch them. The suspects drove away at a speed of 180 kilometer per hour to escape the police.

However, the investigators discovered some of the vehicles on the road which the suspects had abandoned, collected the finger prints and later captured them. The law enforcement also found drugs on Hsu.

The trio said that they did this for fun and they wanted to know which brand of cars was strong enough to withstand a crash.

All the suspects ha criminal records. The police are still searching for their other five accomplices.
