Bike rental station to promote leisurely tour in KaohsiungCNA KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan -- Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp. (KRTC) has set up a folding bike rental station at Zuoying station, the southern terminus of Taiwan's high speed rail line, to make it easier for people to tour Kaohsiung in a more leisurely way.
June 22, 2009, 10:13 am TWN KRTC officials said that in view of the biking craze in recent years, they came up with the idea of providing folding bikes to those who arrive in Kaohsiung via the high speed rail line or mass rapid transit system. They noted that Kaohsiung has nearly 100 kilometers of bike lanes that take cyclists to such scenic spots as Love River, Cijin and Lotus Pond. The rental fee for the bikes will be NT$200 for a full day and NT$100 for four hours after June 26, they added. The company will monitor the results of the bike rental station to decide whether to offer such services at more MRT stations.
