Foreigners to tell English stories in Yilan City event

YILAN, Taiwan -- Yilan City is to hold five complimentary events where foreign teachers will tell stories in English to help build up local residents' language skills through the interactive activities, local media reported yesterday.

The five events are organized by Yilan City Hall and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, April 17, May 15, June 19 and July 10.

Different stories will be presented in each session; the initial event features “The Rainbow Fish,” where participants will be given an introduction to the rainbow fish's life in the sea. For more information, please contact the city library at 03-9355604.

Huang Ting-ho, mayor of Yilan City, said the story-telling activities are launched to enhance local residents' world vision and arouse their interest in learning English, encouraging people of different ages to join the events.
