Updated Monday, March 8, 2010 9:46 am TWN, The China Post news staff CPA announces 7 guidelines for Taroko Gorge touristsIn addition to provide safety helmets for tourists, the CPA also reminds the public of seven seven key points when visiting the Taroko National Park. The dos and don'ts include: do not enter the gorges during a downpour and after an earthquake, do not linger on a specific spot, do put on a safety helmet, pass a dangerous section quickly, walk along the cliffs, mind small falling stones as it may be a sigh of upcoming giant rocks, and be alert at all times. If presented with a little falling stones on a journey, tourists should leave the location as soon as possible, hide themselves in a tunnel and warn others to do so. If they fail to leave the place immediately, they need to stay close to a cliff with their hands being crossed on the head because in a gorge, falling items usually travel in a parabolic curve, the CPA explained. Tourists can rent helmets for free at the Tourist Center of Taroko Gorges, Buluowan (布洛灣), Jiucyudong Trail (九曲洞步道) and Tiansiang Administration Station (天祥管理站). The Central Cross-island Highway connected to the breathtaking Taroko Gorges and the trails along the gorges are prone to falling stones. Visitors are always supposed to be alert to unpredictable falling rocks and follow the signs along the trails on their journey. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%. Click here |
