Updated Monday, January 18, 2010 9:47 am TWN, The China Post news staff Rough waves in Hualien Port kill one anglerThe two fishers were swept out to sea at around 7:30 a.m., and other anglers at the scene called help from the maritime patrol. The Hualien maritime patrol arrived at around 7:45 a.m. and dispatched the search and rescue operation. The rescuers found one of the victims, surnamed Wang, holding onto a portable fridge and floating in sea. Wang was rescued, but his friend, surnamed Tsai, was seen drown offshore almost 45 minutes after they were reported missing. Tsai lost signs of life when he was found, and was pronounced dead after he was rushed to the hospital. The maritime patrol said that the temperatures in sea was only 10 degree Celsius, people who fall into the sea will lose body temperature in a short while.
