The China Post news staff--Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun recently led his administration team on a visit to the new Robot Story exhibition at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, enjoying a close interaction with Robo Thespian, an intelligent robot serving as a guide at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the U.S.
During its interaction with Magistrate Chiu, Robo Thespian fully showed his versatile “talent” as an actor by competing with Chiu in singing Hakka songs, engaging in humorous dialogues with the magistrate, and responding positively to his instructions, totally breaking through the limitations on the interactions between robots and human people.
The exhibition, running from June 23 to Sept. 23, explores the history of robotics and their future development. Over 80 exhibits, ranging from a draft robot in 1920 to the armors of Iron Man Mark I, II and III in 2012, are on display to give visitors a clear picture of the development of the global robotics industry.
Besides Robo Thespian, visitors can also find at the exhibition quite a few famous robots appearing in movies, including Robot Cyborg in the films “RoboCop” and “The Terminator, and Sony Robot Dog Aibo.
