Seller to pay NT$990,000 for concealing property flawsHsinchu District Court ordered the previous property owner to not only refund NT$ 4.95 million for the property, but also compensate the buyer NT$990,000 — NT$260,000 for renovations and NT$730,000 for breach of contract. According to local reports, the buyer, surnamed Hsu, sued the seller when she discovered a previous suicide from carbon monoxide inhalation in the two-story house. She had purchased the property on Nanda Road (南大路) for her marriage last July, but discovered its unfavorable history from her neighbor a year later. The house was rented out for a few years after the incident, according to a neighbor, but was unoccupied afterwards. Similar cases have happened in the past. A Taipei County man, surnamed Li, was found guilty of fraud and compensated his buyer NT$860,000 for concealing the fact that a previous death occurred on the property. | |||||||||||||
