Lovers' wall painted in Chiayi County unveiled

The wall was painted by 14 volunteers from Taiwan and Japan who came to Dalin Township, which sounds like “darling” in English, for a 10-day program to provide care to local senior citizens and build a zone exclusively for lovers, officials said.

In addition to the wall, the volunteers created a garden for couples, who now have the option to plant roses to wish for a everlasting relationship, said Lin Po-hua, a community counselor from Hondao Senior Citizen's Welfare Foundation, which jointly launched the program with the Dalin Township.

The program is inspired by a group of elderly people who circled around Taiwan on their motorcycles and is aimed at spreading the spirit of remaining “young at heart” internationally, Lin said.
