Koean tourism chief attends Lantern FestivalAt the invitation of Taiwan Tourism Bureau Director-General Janice Lai, Lee Cham, president of KTO, a government-invested corporation responsible for the Korean tourism industry, arrived in Taiwan accompanied by several heads from the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA). The visit is seen as a big step forward in tourism exchanges between the two countries, said Chen Pei tsen, a Tourism Bureau official stationed in Seoul. A record 23 representatives from South Korea's tourism and media sectors took part in the ceremony, which shows the importance Taiwan's Tourism Bureau attaches to the South Korean market, according to Chen. Lee, a German who became a naturalized Korean citizen in 1986 and who was appointed KTO president last year, is scheduled to stay in Taiwan for three days. He visited the National Palace Museum in Taipei, experience Taiwan's high speed railway and visit some hot springs. Chen said over 600,000 visitors have traveled between Taiwan and South Korea every year in recent years.
