Loose cobra at district court terrifies law clerk

CHIAYI, Taiwan -- A female law clerk found herself in an unexpected confrontation with a cobra at the district court office yesterday in Chiayi City, local media reported.

Judicial police scrambled to capture the scaly, one-meter-long creature, which was eventually brushed into a cardboard box with a broom, said TVBS.

According to the report, the law clerk entered the elevator unaware of the venomous snake lurking by the door.

The reptile began to hiss when doors closed in on its body, alarming the woman, added the report.
