Chance to check out Lukang lanterns nearly over: officials

The Tourism Bureau yesterday urged all people who have not yet visited the 2012 Taiwan Lantern Festival show being staged at Lukang Township of Changhua County to take time to attend the festivities today and tomorrow.
The largest lantern show and celebrations in Taiwan for the Lantern Festival for the Year of the Dragon is scheduled to wind up tomorrow evening at the coastal town in central Taiwan.
Officials of the Tourism Bureau and the Changhua County urged those who have yet gone to Lukang to seize the rare opportunity to witness the special events arranged for today and tomorrow.
In addition to see the wide variety of specially designed lanterns, taste delicious Taiwanese foods and snacks, visitors should not miss the concerts and performances by arts troupes from Taiwan and foreign nations from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
There will also be fireworks shows at 8:03 p.m. and 22:33 for both this evening and tomorrow night.
The climaxes will include the concluding ceremony for the lantern show with performances of arts troupes and musicians from Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia, and other nations.
People may take the high-speed rail service to stations near Changhua and then transfer to Lukang via shuttle bus.
