Over 3,000 pirated disks with copyright violations

CHANGHUA, Taiwan -- The Intellectual Property Rights Police Team tracked down over 3,000 pirated film disks that violated the copyright for an estimated value of more than tens of million dollars during the Chinese New Year holiday, according to local media reports.

After a thorough search for pirated disks at night markets, commercial areas nationwide and on the Internet, the police found over three thousand illegal copied film disks, including hits like “Monga” and “Avatar” and upcoming movies like “9” and “Spy Next Door” at the Zhongxiao East Road Commercial District on Feb. 15 and the commercial area around the Changhua Lugangmazu Temple on Feb. 20, with each disk being sold for NT$100, explained Lin, Chu-yun, an official of the police team.
