CHANGHUA, Taiwan -- Some ducks were killed due to poison contamination, while some are being tortured to death. Changhua County police yesterday launched investigation into animal cruelty after local residents reported the ducks living in a park lake shot with arrows, according to ETTV news channel.

The police suspect at least three culprits were involved in the torture resulting in the death of one duck and the injuries of four others. One of the local residents saw people approached the lake in the night and attacked the ducks with”blowing arrows” working like air guns.

Five of the seven ducks were injured and the one found with three arrows on its head and neck died before rescuers could send it to an animal hospital.

From the injuries, local animal protection authorities have concluded that the weapon used to shoot the ducks was some kind of air gun with arrow-shooting functions.
