Musk hog arrested for causing road accident

CHANGHUA, Taiwan -- A musk hog rammed into a motorbike in Hsiushui yesterday, wounding its rider who was on his way home from Changhua.

Lai Ming-ta, the chauffeur, had one rib broken and suffered bruises on his hands and legs.

He was knocked down in the swine charge, firemen said.

Firemen looked for the culprit.

They couldn’t find it. Instead, they found its mate and put the 60-kilogram sow under arrest.

“We thought she was the kamikaze peccary,” one firefighter said. La told them she wasn’t the one that charged his motorbike.

It must be the much bigger boar that knocked him off the saddle, Lai said.

The boar sped away from the scene, while the sow was lingering on the spot to be caught.

She will be kept under custody until her owner comes out to offer an apology to Lai, who said he wouldn’t press any charges.
