Canada work holiday program to accept applications from Taiwan

TAIPEI -- Taiwanese young adults looking to gain work experience while traveling in Canada this year can submit applications for the program starting March 19, according to the Canadian representative office in Taiwan.

The reciprocal program allows 1,000 Taiwanese nationals aged 18-35 each year to work and travel in Canada for up to one year in three categories: working holiday, one-year contract of employment, and one-year internship for university students.

The Taiwan-Canada working holiday agreement took effect in 2010.

Working holiday programs, including with Canada, have proven popular among Taiwanese young adults in recent years.

Taiwan also has working holiday agreements with Germany, Ireland, Belgium Hungary, Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Most of the programs offer positions for applicants aged 18-30.
