In his remarks during the general debate that opened Sept. 24, Cartes said he welcomes that Taiwan is obtaining wider participation in U.N. specialized agencies thanks to the support of the international community and improvements in cross-Taiwan Strait relations in recent years, according to Florencia Hsieh, deputy director-general of the ministry's Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs.
Cartes pledged that his country will continue to encourage and support friendly interaction between Taiwan and China in international organizations, Hsieh said.
