MOFA thanks European Parliament's support for Taiwan ICAO participation
By Joseph Yeh ,The China PostTAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) yesterday expressed gratitude over a recent statement issued by the European Union in which it welcomed Taiwan's participation in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly currently being held in Canada.

A statement issued by the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on Monday expressed the EU's support for Taiwan's participation in the ICAO.
“The High Representative welcomes the invitation to Taiwan to attend the 38th Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organisation as a guest of the President of the ICAO Council,” the statement read.
This invitation will help promote the security of international aviation and assist the ICAO in achieving its goal of creating a seamless Asian sky, the statement added.
MOFA thanked the EU for its support of Taiwan's meaningful participation in the specialized agency under the United Nations, MOFA spokeswoman Anna Kao (高安) said.
Taiwan hopes that by participating in the ongoing 38th Assembly of the ICAO, it can enhance aviation exchanges with the EU and contribute to aviation safety, Kao added.
