TAIPEI -- Labor Minister Pan Shih-wei will visit Burkina Faso, one of Taiwan's four diplomatic allies in Africa, next week to check on the progress of bilateral cooperation on vocational training, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
Pan will lead a delegation to the African country at Burkina Faso's invitation from July 8-10, said David Wang, director general of the ministry's Department of West Asian and African Affairs, at a regular news briefing.
The main purpose of Pan's visit is to check on Burkina Faso's vocational training program, which Taiwan has actively supported to improve the skill level of the West African ally's people, Wang said.
The delegation is scheduled to visit a vocational training center in Ziniare and a vocational high school in Koudougou that were set up with Taiwan's help, the ministry said.
Opened in 2010, the training center offers vocational education in several fields, including baking, automobile maintenance and electronics.
