Canadian parliamentary delegation to visit Taiwan later in week: MOFA

TAIPEI -- A Canadian parliamentary delegation will visit Taiwan later this week to learn more about the country's politics, foreign diplomacy, trade and Taiwan-China relations, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Wednesday in a statement.

The delegation, led by Canadian parliamentarian John Weston, will be in Taiwan from April 6 to 12, during which it will meet with President Ma Ying-jeou and call on officials at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economic Affairs, National Defense, and the Mainland Affairs Council, among others, the statement said.

Weston, chair of the Canada-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, and the delegation will also attend an event to launch an exchange association between Taiwanese and Canadian lawmakers, according to the statement.
