2 fugitive Vietnam workers to be deportedThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Two fugitive workers from Vietnam were detained by the National Immigration Agency (NIA) when they attempted to use friends' ID certificates to separately visit the same female detainee in Taipei.
March 16, 2013, 12:06 am TWN Ahtai, 25, grew up with Ahli, 24, in north Vietnam. But both had run away from their original employers after their contracts expired. They had lived together in a rented apartment on Bade Road in Taipei over the past six months. Ahli was recently arrested by police when going out to look for a new job. Ahtai, who had been working at a restaurant during his overstay, was locked up at a detention center yesterday when his borrowed certificate was detected by NIA officials. In addition, Ahli's cousin was also arrested when seeking to visit her by using a friend's certificate. The cousin was also wanted by authorities NIA officials said the three will be repatriated soon and they will not be allowed to return to Taiwan for work for at least the next three years.
