TMU has been accepting applications and scholarships for more than half a century and the graduates from TMU have made Taiwan's medical system world-famous, TMU said.
Founded in 1960 as Taipei Medical College, TMU has expanded over 53 years to encompass seven colleges and three major urban hospitals. TMU is Taiwan's leading university in terms of translational research and industry cooperation, according to TMU.
With 25 research centers and affiliations with 10 international partners, TMU offers students access to leading-edge research projects. TMU also expands its connections with the world through its foreign students from more than 30 nations, said TMU.
These students are attracted by the chance to co-author publications in leading scientific journals. The global QS organization ranks TMU in the QS Top 100 World Life Sciences & Medicine schools and places it at 64th among all Asian universities, according to TMU.
TMU's all-English degree program, generous scholarships and ample laboratory resources have attracted students from three-dozen nations to spend their graduate years at TMU. Besides studying hard, these students enjoy full athletic and cultural facilities on a cosmopolitan campus that's an easy walk from Taipei's top entertainment and finance district. Public transit will soon include a convenient airport line extending from the neighborhood, TMU said.
Circling the campus are dozens of friendly restaurants that offer all kinds of specialties to the students. A traditional market nearby changes vendors every day of the week in the morning and offers snacks in the evening. Across Keelung Rd., the Tonghua St. Night Market offers enticing entertainment for young people. The campus of TMU offers opportunities for sports and fitness with a standard swimming pool, spa, gymnasium, tennis courts and track fields. Special events are held for international students every year including a food festival and a Chinese-language speech contest.
