He also called on the Vatican's top education official, Zenon Cardinal Grocholewski, prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, accompanied by ROC Ambassador to the Vatican Larry Yu yuan Wang. A day earlier, he visited five pontifical universities, including Urbaniana University, which has signed an academic cooperation agreement with Taiwan's Fu Jen Catholic University, to discuss further academic exchanges. Lin noted that the MOE has included premium universities around the world on a reference list for Taiwanese teachers and students planning to study overseas. Wang for his part said he was happy that Lin's visit had brought the good news that Taiwan will recognize all pontifical universities. “This is a major step in the ROC's education history and I'm sure there will be more academic cooperation in the future,” he added.
