Updated Wednesday, January 27, 2010 9:22 am TWN, The China Post news staff Yilan ship stuck off Midway Island found, all twelve sailors safeThe 80-ton deep ocean fishing boat “Shunfuyu No.86” registered to Suao in the eastern county of Yilan sent out distress signal Monday at around 4 p.m. Satellite position indicated that the vessel was sitting still at the same location off Midway Island near Hawaii. Yet none of the 12, including two Taiwanese, could be reached as the satellite phone was malfunctioning. A plane sent by the U.S. successfully located with the ship and its crew, who appeared to be in safe condition, yesterday afternoon. However, since the satellite communication could still not be established with the crew, Taiwanese fishing boat “Sheng I Tsai No. 368” had set out for “Shunfuyu” to determine why the ship had lost power.
