AIT to increase nonimmigrant visa fee

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Taipei Office of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) announced Friday in a press release that it will increase the nonimmigrant visa fee on Sept. 29 to reflect the exchange rate.

The adjustment is made on the basis of exchange rate shifts, the AIT said, adding that it is due to the recent shift in the exchange rate between the U.S. Dollar and the New Taiwan Dollar, and in keeping with the worldwide U.S. nonimmigrant visa processing fee, AIT will increase its visa processing fee effective Sept. 29 from NT$4,100 to NT$4,300.

According to AIT, all applicants for nonimmigrant visas who pay the visa processing fee on or after Sept. 29 must show a receipt for NT$4,300 and those who paid the visa fee before Sept. 29 may still use the receipt for NT$4,100.

The worldwide U.S. nonimmigrant visa processing fee remains at US$131, it added.

The AIT reduced its visa processing fee April 1 from NT$4,200 to NT$4,100.
