After serving three years in Taiwan, staying in this island has always been enriching and encouraging with a lot of unforgettable experiences.” An ice carving, “1989” was displayed on the stage to commemorate the year 1989, the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain. In the former Czechoslovakia, in Nov. 17, 1989, a student holding an anti-Nazi demonstration was arrested by the Czech police. The incident sparked the so-called peaceful “Velvet revolution” that helped enable Czechoslovakia citizens to breathe the air of freedom as the nation developed into a liberal democracy.
