TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A recent joint effort by Taiwanese and Philippines law enforcement authorities led to a raid on a telecom-fraud operation base in Cebu earlier this month, the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has announced.
The raid, conducted by the Philippine authorities on Nov. 21, culminated in the arrest of 24 suspects, including 19 Taiwanese nationals and five Chinese, the CIB said in a press statement.
During the raid, police seized telecom equipment and handbooks on how to conduct telecom fraud.
The CIB said it had received tips last month that a batch of Taiwanese fraud suspects, including the ring leader, surnamed Tai, were flying to Cebu.
