Acer launches new phones in Mexico to extend reach

TAIPEI--Taiwanese personal computer maker Acer Inc. (宏碁) said Friday it has begun selli ng its latest series of smartphones in Mexico, extending the reach of its global smartphone sales network.
In entering the Mexico market, Acer's smartphone brand is now being sold in 31 countries around the world, surpassing its target of 25 countries this year.
Its smartphones are now sold in North and South America, Europe and Asia, and they are now available through the Americas from as far north as Canada to as far south as Chile, Acer said in a statement.
The company announced that sales of its new Liquid smartphone series and wearable device — the Liquid Leap — have gone on sale in Mexico through major retailer Office Depot.
According to Gartner, Inc.'s survey in the first quarter of the year, Acer is one of the top three PC brands in Mexico, selling a complete range of products featuring notebook computers, tablets and projectors, and is hoping that its brand recognition in the market will help with smartphone sales.
