Japanese encephalitis to peak, caution raised: CDC

TAIPEI--Japanese encephalitis cases are on the rise and could peak this month or next, Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warned Friday, urging the public to avoid mosquito infested areas.

The CDC announced the year's first indigenous Japanese encephalitis cases earlier this week: a 52 year-old man in the central city of Taichung and a 46-year-old man in the southern city of Tainan.
