New German representative enthusiastic about posting

TAIPEI--The next director-general of the German Institute Taipei, Martin Eberts, said Thursday that he is enthusiastic about taking up his new post in Taiwan.

Eberts, the incumbent German ambassador to Brazil, will succeed Michael Zickerick at the end of July to begin a three-year term in Taiwan, he told CNA during a break at Zickerick's farewell gathering in Taipei.

“I'm really looking forward to it,” Eberts said of his new posting.

Zickerick, who is scheduled to return to Berlin in late June, said at the gathering that he will continue to follow developments in Taiwan and that he hopes to come back again in the near future.
