MOEA to hold seminar for overseas investors

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will hold a seminar at the end of this month for Taiwanese investors operating overseas in a bid to help them meet challenges amid escalating competition in the global market, the Department of Investment Services said Saturday.

The department said the MOEA will brief overseas Taiwanese investors on how to use Taiwan as a base to map out their strategies for investing worldwide at a time when the global market is changing very quickly.

The seminar is scheduled for May 30 in Taipei. It will focus on the theme of how to innovate, how to groom successors and how to seize business opportunities. It will also focus on upgrading the investors' production technology and improving their business models.

In addition, the MOEA aims to provide necessary assistance to the investors through the seminar to cultivate their talent.

The convention will also place emphasis on the importance of corporate governance for a long term business development.

During the seminar, the ministry will hold investment meetings in which overseas Taiwanese investors can gain access to investment opportunities in the health and biotech sector, the culture creative industry, the technology industry and the logistics business in Taiwan.

The MOEA is hoping that it can serve as a bridge between overseas Taiwanese investors and enterprises based in Taiwan in hopes that the two types of businesses can cooperate in the future to further penetrate the global market.
