MOFA urges caution for ROC tourists in Thailand
CNATAIPEI--Taiwanese nationals planning to visit Thailand are urged to maintain vigilance over their safety as Thai anti-government protesters prepare for a big rally scheduled to start Jan. 13 in Bangkok, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.

“Our nationals who plan to visit there should be particularly careful and pay attention to their safety,” said Bob Chen, deputy director-general of the ministry's Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, at a regular news briefing.
Chen's remarks came after Thai anti-government protesters recently announced plans to block key intersections and transportation facilities for days, starting Jan. 13, in a bid to force out Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
They have demanded that Shinawatra step down amid claims that her government is controlled by her older brother, ousted former leader Thaksin Shinawatra, according to foreign reports.
