Amway visit to help boost hotel revenueThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Approximately 12,000 Amway employees from mainland China are slated to visit Taiwan in March and April, which will help generate an expected NT$1.1 billion for the island.
March 5, 2013, 12:35 am TWN Martin Liou (劉明雄), managing director of Amway Taiwan Co. Ltd., said that the theme of this year's visit is authenticity. Visitors will be treated to cuisine prepared by three of Taiwan's five-star hotels, including the Sheraton Taipei (台北喜來登大飯店), the Grand Hotel (台北圓山大飯店) and the Westin Taipei (台北威斯汀六福皇宮), as well as three Michelin-recommended food and beverage establishments — Din Tai Fung (鼎泰豐), renowned for its xiaolungbao, Du Hsiao Yueh (度小月), famous for its Tainan noodles, and tea house Chun Shui Tang (春水堂). The Sheraton Taipei will be staging a large-scale outdoor banquet, which is considered a unique feature of Taiwanese culture, at Taipei RV Camp, serving up to 2,400 Amway employees at once. The budget for each table is currently set at NT$25,000, which, when including kitchenware, will lead to an estimated cost of more than NT$30 million. Sheraton Taipei's banquet will be opened with a special performance by the celebrated Ming Hwa Yuan Taiwanese Opera Company (明華園).
