President calls for regular consultation with FranceCNA TAIPEI--President Ma Ying-jeou proposed yesterday the establishment of a regular consultation mechanism for trade and economic issues between Taiwan and France.
January 4, 2013, 12:02 am TWN Such a mechanism would help promote bilateral trade and investment and enhance the substantive ties between the two countries, Ma told a delegation led by Francois Brottes, chairman of the France-Taiwan Friendship Group of the French National Assembly. Ma suggested that consultative meetings could be held at least once a year, alternating between Taipei and Paris. “I believe this would allow the two sides to build closer ties,” he said. The president noted that Taiwan has signed 450 agreements on educational and technological cooperation with France, making France the second-largest technological cooperation partner of Taiwan after the United States.
