Taiwan graduate students get higher salaries in QatarCNA TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwanese graduate students can earn a much higher salary working as research assistants at universities in Qatar than in Taiwan, with the monthly wage for researchers in the Arabian country ranging from US$2,000 to US$3,750 (NT$58,000 to NT$108,000), according to a university executive in Taipei.

For each research assistant who holds a master's degree or is seeking such a degree, the Qatar university offered a salary of US$2,000 per month. The wage for a research assistant with a doctoral degree or is seeking a Ph.D. reached US$3,750 per month, Ho said. In contrast, the monthly wage of a research assistant working in Taiwan on school projects ranges from only NT$35,000 to NT$55,000, depending on the assistant's academic background, according to job bank data. The minimum wage in Taiwan stands now at NT$18,780 per month.
