Taiwan supports women's rights in rural El Salvador

TAIPEI--Taiwan showed its support for women's rights in El Salvador Friday by donating a bus to the authorities in Lourdes, a city located 12 km from the capital city of San Salvador.

The bus will provide transport for pregnant and physically impaired women from rural areas to Lourdes, where a “Ciudad Mujer” center, or “Women's City,” is located.

The facility is a government project aimed at providing one-stop access for women in employment training, medical and child care services.

Republic of China Ambassador to El Salvador Jaime Chen co-hosted the donation ceremony with Vanda Pignato, secretary of social inclusion and first lady of El Salvador, who is in charge of the project.
