Communique marks close Taiwan-Gambia friendship

In the communique, the two countries agreed that all nations around the world should resolve international disputes through dialogue, negotiations or other peaceful means. They also agreed to cooperate closely to promote global peace and prosperity.

At the signing ceremony at Jammeh's office, Ma expressed thanks to The Gambia for its firm support for Taiwan in the international community.

In return, Jammeh praised Ma's flexible diplomatic strategy, which he said has helped lower the possibility of conflict in the Taiwan Strait and advanced world peace and prosperity.

Jammeh also thanked the Republic of China for its assistance in the promotion of The Gambia's development in the fields of agriculture, health care, human resources, and infrastructure development.

He reiterated that his country will continue to stand up for Taiwan in its bid to join major international organizations.

Ma flew to Swaziland later in the day to begin the final leg of his trip to Africa. He first stopped in Burkina Faso before visiting The Gambia.
