Tour packages to Taiwan soaring: Belgian operator

BRUSSELS -- A foreign tour operator at Vakantiesalon van Brussel, an international travel fair in Brussels, Belgium, said Saturday that one of his tours that inluded Taiwan was selling well.

Glenn Casaer said his latest product, a 19-day package tour of South Korea and Taiwan, was attracting many customers at the fair so far, even though the tour cost more than 6,000 euros (US$7,895) per person.

Casaer originally planned to offer clients a two-week South Korean tour, but he thought it would be better to include another destination as it took a long time to fly to Asia from Europe.

After considering Taiwan, he flew to the country to see it for himself and was tremendously impressed by what he saw.

“If you want to visit scenic areas, you can go to Taiwan's Hualian, Taitung and Alishan, and if you want to go shopping, you can go to the skyscraper Taipei 101 or Ximending,” Casaer said.
