Taiwan donates money, supplies to help HaitiThe money will be used to help country treat cholera patients and prevent further spread of the disease, the MOFA said. Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control has also sent medical and other supplies to Haiti at that country's request, and the shipment arrived on Nov. 11, MOFA said. More supplies will be sent to Haiti, where more than 18,000 people have been hospitalized with cholera, the ministry said. The cholera epidemic broke out in Haiti in late October amid poor sanitation conditions following a devastating earthquake in January and it is feared that the disease will continue to spread. This week, a Haitian with cholera was reportedly found to have entered the neighboring Dominican Republic, and cases of the disease have also been reported in the U.S. state of Florida. | |||||||||||||
