Updated Thursday, August 26, 2010 10:12 am TWN, CNA 'Taiwan Village' 1st phase in Nicaragua completedThe “Taiwan Village” residential project, funded by the Care2Help Charitable Association, aims to build a total of 30 units at affordable prices for citizens of the city. The first phase saw 16 units completed. Charity founder Weng Yen-tien and his wife presided over the ceremony, arriving to a warm welcome. Republic of China Ambassador to Nicaragua Wu Chin-mun also attended the ceremony. Masatepe Mayor Luis Manuel Morales said the “Taiwan Village” residences are built of cement and bricks, in sharp contrast to the existing housing in the city, which is mostly made of iron sheeting and plastic materials. Weng said he felt grateful to the mayor and to Wu for their efforts to push for the project, as it meant his association was able to complete the first phase of construction in just one year.
