Taiwan is Japan’s second largest source of touristsAccording to JNTO statistics, Taiwanese tourists made some 126,300 visit to Japan in October alone. Although the figure was down by 3.3 percent year on year, Taiwan was still Japan’s second-largest source of tourists last month after South Korea, with tourists from that country making about 188,000 visits. In the January October period, Taiwanese tourists made over 1.22 million visits to Japan, marking a 3.5 percent increase over the year-earlier level and lagging only behind South Korea, which accounted for 2.15 million visits. Foreign tourist arrivals to Japan totaled 7.28 million in the first 10 months, representing annual growth of 4.3 percent, JNTO statistics indicate. However, the October figure dropped by 5.9 percent from the previous year’s level to 739,100 — the third consecutive monthly drop. Related Stories | |||||||||||||
