Lukang, an old township rich with folk culture in central Taiwan, is seeking to boost tourism with Formosan sika deer, the animal in its name, which translates as "the port of deer" in English.

Workers bid again to reopen plant
About 5,000 protesters from the Formosa Plastics Group rallied outside the headquarters of Changhua County Government on Saturday, demanding it renew a license for a plant suspended over pollution concerns.
 
Formosa Chemicals and Fibre Corporation's (FCFC) employees and their supporters are slated to stage their third protest against the Changhua County Government, which they say has jeopardized their right to work.
