A Taiwanese woman working as a private tutor in Yilan County was swindled out of a large sum of money over the past few months by a Facebook friend claiming to be a U.S. national, the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) said Sunday, releasing a fraud warning for virtual communities.
 
Yilan official quits over farm house scandal
Chen Shin-yi (陳鑫益), secretary general of the Yilan County Government, resigned yesterday from his post after suspicions were raised that he was linked to two farm properties not engaged in agricultural activities, which goes against current farm-ownership laws.
