Tainan hosts first ever office chair 'grand prix' race
An office chair race, an activity that has become popular in Japan, was held in Tainan on Sunday to promote local businesses and tourism.

A pair of earthquakes occurred in Central and Southern Taiwan early Tuesday with a magnitude of 3.9 and 4.3 respectively, according to the Central Weather Bureau. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
 
Tainan Mayor Lai Ching-te (賴清德) said Sunday that the full amount of NT$4 billion (US$123.3 million) in donations received by the city government after a deadly earthquake in February will be put toward the relief and recovery efforts in the city.

A committee to manage and monitor the use of more than NT$3.6 billion (US$110.92 million) in donations for relief following the Feb. 6 earthquake in Tainan, Southern Taiwan, was inaugurated Tuesday.
 
An investigation will be launched into the death of two pet dogs, which were suspected to have been thrown from where their owner lives on the ninth floor in Tainan Saturday.
 
Donations in the wake of the Feb. 6 earthquake are enough to take care of victims of the quake and pay for reconstruction, Tainan Mayor Lai Ching-te said Monday.
