Murder of mother tied to huge credit card bill
Details have emerged in a case involving a couple detained by authorities on suspicion of murdering two victims in order to collect insurance payments, yesterday.

A body found in the central county of Nantou could be that of a well known mountain climber who has been missing for more than a month, but the news was still pending confirmation by his family, local authorities said Wednesday.
 
The Nantou County Government announced that tourism hotspot Hehuan Mountain is to get a special medical station as the remote area has been scene to a series of recent traffic accidents. Officials said that the plan is to turn the Kunyang parking lot into a medical station to service the mountainous region starting March 1.
 
A 24-year-old male student was confirmed to be the 21st measles case of the year at Ren-ai Township (仁愛鄉) in Nantou County, said the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) yesterday.
 
Sun Moon Lake authorities unveiled a halal certification program for restaurants in the area on Tuesday, in a bid to attract more Muslim visitors to one of Taiwan's best known scenic spots.

Top tourist attraction Sun Moon Lake aims to become the country's first scenic area to use only green tourist buses with the introduction of three electric-powered buses in October, transportation officials said Saturday.
 
The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village (FACV, 九族文化村), a famous amusement park in Nantou County (南投縣), allegedly experienced a gas explosion yesterday, causing six injuries suffered by two employees and four tourists. The FACV denied the incident was the result of a gas leak.
