Prostitution ring busted
Four foreign suspects detained after allegedly engaging in prostitution are seen in photo taken in Yunlin on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Yunlin District Prosecutors Office said Tuesday that they have uncovered a prostitution ring and are scheduled to charge ring members for human trafficking. The four foreign nationals are set to be deported, prosecutors said.

Troubled waters

The Yunlin County government has rejected an offer by the Formosa Petrochemical Corp.'s (FPC's) No. 6 Naphtha Cracker Complex to sponsor the Taiwan Lantern Festival in the county next year, Yunlin Magistrate Lee Chin-yung said Wednesday.
 
The 2017 Taiwan Lantern Festival, to be held in central Taiwan's Yunlin County next year, will feature diverse cultures from new immigrants for the first time, the county government said Monday.
 
Market-fresh inspection
Yunlin district prosecutors, police and officials from the Agriculture Department in the southern county of Yunlin inspect the Xilo Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market on Saturday, Oct. 22. The group was on the lookout for illegal hoarding and price manipulation in the sale of fresh produce.
