Man allegedly kills five family members in arson after CNY's Eve dinner
A Chinese New Year's Eve family reunion turned into tragedy when five people died in a fire allegedly set by a son in Taoyuan on Sunday, police said Monday.
A recount of ballots has shown that Chen Shei-saint (陳學聖) of the Kuomintang (KMT) maintained his lead against his main rival and won a hotly contested electoral district in Taoyuan City in the Jan. 16 legislative elections, the Taoyuan District Court said Friday.
Taoyuan is lighting up the entire city at the coming 2016 Taiwan Lantern Festival, to mark the Year of the Monkey.
A national lantern competition being held as part of the 2016 Taiwan Lantern Festival has drawn more than 800 entries, the Taoyuan City Government said.
Taoyuan airport police catch 2nd cash smuggler in 3 days
Taoyuan airport police said they intercepted a Hong Kong man who was attempting to smuggle NT$12.47 million (US$372,839.8) from Taiwan to Hong Kong on Sunday.
