The magistrate of Pingtung County convened a meeting Tuesday in which he demanded that all the bureaus under the county government strengthen their internal reporting mechanisms and construct a database for unlicensed plants in the southern county in the wake of a scandal involving recycled waste oil being sold as a food product.

Taiwan -- Firefighter based in Pingtung suspected of using drugs
The police recently busted a gang of suspects engaged in drug trafficking and accidentally discovered that a firefighter from the Pingtung County Fire Bureau had made purchases from the gang multiple times.
